Nuno Castelo-Branco was born in Lourenço Marques, now Maputo (Moçambique). His parents, a painter and an History teacher, early enabled him to come into contact with Art. Start by drawing colorful medieval tournaments, ships and galleons climbing, puffed up with colors, waves of dreams, affections and Indic mystery, profiles and effigies of Portuguese kings and heroes, as well as scathing caricatures of friends and family where protruding shades of silks from China and Indian cottons. Using oil or mixed media, acrylic and oil, Nuno Castelo Branco seeks to highlight the vericity and purity of design in their underlying tables, the contrast between light and dark, the strength of blue, black and white predominate at the most of his work, a core firm in the desire for modernity, however, does not despise the legacy of centuries of Western taste.
